Our business book, “Brilliant Breakthroughs for the Small Business Owner” was released on November 8, 2017. While I know I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect, I can assure you that getting to #1 in both our key categories only 12 hours after release was totally unexpected.

Our unexpected – but, frankly (upon reflection) not surprising success is testament to several people. The list of thank you’s is long and – I hope – not boring. Here we go:

First, thanks to God. I felt your warm embrace throughout this journey.

Next, thanks to my wife Jeanne, who only laughed a little when I said I was going to be a published author. The line “behind every great man is an even greater woman” is so true. Pretty sure I’m not a great man; Jeanne is, for sure, a great woman.

Thanks to my children, Eric and Lizzy. They only laughed slightly harder than my wife, but they stepped it up and recruited readers from among their friends and colleagues.

Thanks Mom and Dad. Dad is gone almost 12 years. He was an English and American Literature professor, a philosopher, a theologian, a cyclist, a golfer, and, yes, an author. Mom is a linguist and budding author, and was my first submission reviewer. When she gave me the thumbs up, I was off to the races. Based on my parents, I guess to some degree I come by this author thing honestly.

Thanks to my brothers Rick and Roger and my sister Danielle. They didn’t laugh (a least not to my face) when I said I was going to be an author. They’ve been supportive throughout this process, although they have questioned my sanity on more than one occassion.

Thanks to the University of Notre Dame. Despite their reputation as Football University (apologies to Alabama, Texas, USC, Ohio State, etc, but it’s the truth), ND is a great academic institution. My four years as an English Major formed the basis for my career. Thanks also to my many ND friends and classmates.

Thanks to my coauthors. What a cool bunch of Brilliant Practicing Experts™. They are Maggie Mongan, Dave Rebro, Stacy Kaat, Nancy Lucchesi, Greg Nicholson, Mike Raber, Jake Nawrocki, Lori Bonaparte, and Susan White. It’s been a hell of a ride, and I have a feeling we’re just getting started.

Finally thanks to my friends and colleagues for your encouragement and support throughout this process – not to mention acquiring the book.

My contribution to the book is entitled “Sales Suck in Solitude.” As it turns out, so does life.
